Ideal for eChampians behold – JSW MG Motor India has officially rolled out the much-awaited MG Windsor Pro, an embellishment to its electric vehicle arsenal, which brings on board substantial exciting features, in a move set to alter the dynamics of the crossover utility vehicle (CUV) segment. Windsor Pro is an improved version of the original Windsor EV which has quickly become popular after its release last year.

Price And Battery-As-A-Service facility

MG Windsor Pro

The MG Windsor Pro is launched at an attractive introductory price of Rs 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the first 8,000 customers to book the vehicle, fromMay 8, 2025. The Windsor Pro is MG’s next step to bring new age experiences to EV buyers, and will be offered with an avant-garde ‘Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model for INR 12.49 lakhs and subscription model of INR 4.5 per km.

This unique ownership pattern has been greatly received with the standard Windsor and it now extends with six finance partners list comprised of Bajaj Finserv, Herofin Corp, Ecofy, VidyutTech, IDFC First Bank and Kotak Mahindra Prime. The BaaS program minimizes the upfront cost of purchase and provides customers with a pay-per-use subscription based on actual usage.

Featuring Long-Lasting Battery and Good Range

The biggest selling point of the Windsor Pro, of course, is its vastly larger battery pack. The Windsor EV has a 38 kWh battery with a 331 km range, while the Pro gets a 52.9 kWh battery instead. This new driving range of 449 kms* offers a peace of mind to the customer thereby easing their worry of recharging it especially in hilly terrains and remote areas where charging options are a challenge.

Despite its bigger battery, the Windsor pro uses the same powertrain as the stock version. Up front, the electric motor produces 136 PS (134 BHP) of power and 200 Nm of instant torque for a zero-lag acceleration and driving experience unique to electric powertrains.

State of the Art Technology and Premium Features

The Windsor Pro comes with several features making it stand out over the basic Windsor model. The highlight, however, is its Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) which features 12 key safety functions and 3 levels of concept warnings (sound, visual and haptic). These technologies include the Traffic Jam Assist, Vehicle Safe Stop, the Adaptive Cruise Control with Bend Cruise Assistance, the Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, LKA Lane Keep Assist, Intelligent Headlamp control, the Forward Collision Warning, the Automatic Emergency Braking System, the Intelligent Hydraulic Braking Assistance.

Another noteworthy feature is its adoption of Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) technologies. The V2L feature permits users to power other devices from the car – effectively making the Windsor Pro a mobile power station for camping equipment, laptops, and even home devices during power outages. In the meantime, V2V would let EVs share power between them — to take advantage of energy-sharing you need compatible EVs after all — in a move that seems more practical than genius in times of distress.

The two tone Ivory and Black interiors add to the sophisticated look of the cabin. The Windsor Pro continues with the Aero Lounge seats that recline to 135 degrees, which have proven popular, and the Infinity View Panoramic roof that floods the interior with daylight. Comfort-oriented extras, including ventilated front seats and a new powered tailgate, also ensure the Windsor Pro sits closer to the luxury end of the spectrum.

Entertainment and infotainment are focused around the central console that is dominated by the 15.6-inch GrandView Touch Display. The Windsor Pro features more than 80 connected services and 100+ AI driven voice commands that gives the rider a truly modern experience.

Exterior upgrades and color updates

The Pro is basically more or less the design language of the regular Windsor EV but with small tweaks on the surface to set it apart from its sibling. I change that becomes most apparent is the introduction of the all-new 18-inch dual tone machined alloy wheels that lend an extra dimension of sophistication to the car’s side profile.

MG has also added three new colors to the colour range -Celadon Blue, Aurora Silver and Glaze Red. These are added to the current color options, and there is even more for customers to choose from when customizing a Windsor Pro.

Market Position and Competition

The Windsor Pro, which is the rear-wheel drive option, comes in an increasingly crowded but still nascent electric vehicle market in India and will have to slug it out with entrenched players like the Tata Nexon EV. Incidentally, the regular Windsor already has a foot in the door, having clocked a somewhat miraculous 20,000 units in the shortest time for any electric car in India, and overtaking the erstwhile leading Nexon EV in monthly sales for a few months in a row now.

The Windsor Pro comes with good range and features at a competitive price and should help MG expand its EV presence in India. The auto slots in between the base Windsor and upmarket MG ZS EV, giving buyers a mid-spec option with equipment usually reserved for higher priced models.

Devotion to Electric Mobility

The introduction of the Windsor Pro is a testimony of JSW MG Motor India’s vision to further electric mobility in India. Coming as MGs third all-electric product (after the ZS EV and Comet EV), the Windsor Pro is refinement of their EV offense that responds to consumer needs and preferences.

The addition of sophisticated battery technology, new ADAS systems and improvements in ownership model represents MG’s approach to electrification in the most comprehensive manner possible. With range anxiety addressed, featuring premium creature comforts and available through flexible purchase options, the Windsor Pro could well be the convincing voice of reason for a more sophisticated Indian clientele looking to switch over to electric mobility.

Looking Forward

The MG Windsor Pro is a major leap in the electric vehicle revolution for India. With extended range, safety features and premium features at an appealing price, it makes a great value proposition for those for consumers who care about the planet, yet still want to live in luxury and ease.

“Stuck in the Middle” Just like their gas-guzzling predecessors, hybrids and all-electric vehicles–and models like Windsor Pro–play an important part in acclimating car drivers to a green future and addressing the everyday concerns that have traditionally impeded early adoption. It remains to be seen if the Windsor Pro can add to the success of its standard version and push the arc of the electric revolution in India ahead.

If you’re early to the EV market and considering swapping your first runabout for a new one — or for that matter you’re an owner of a combustion engine vehicle, entertaining the notion of EV ownership for the first time — then the MG Windsor Pro should be contemplated long and hard for its range, features and value.
