TVS Jupiter 110 : A new sound punctuates the familiar metaphorical din outside St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai in the mornings.

A different sound mingles with the regular honking and the street vendor calls in DB Nager: The humming of TVS Jupiter engines as students drive in for classes.

What’s interesting, however, is the number of those scooters in traffic that now sport the brand new avatar of the recently-launched-for-2025 Jupiter 110, not just that they are around (Jupiters have always been popular).

Last week, I staked out of the evolving two-wheeler space on college campuses in Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore for three days.

The trend was clear: TVS has managed to turn a scooter that for years was synonymous with practical middle-aged commuters into something that younger riders are excited about.

TVS Jupiter 110 A Transformation of Design That Catches the Eye

TVS Jupiter 110

The 2025 Jupiter 110 is the greatest redesign the model has ever received over its decade of existence.

Retaining the basic structure that helped the Jupiter become a 4.5 million-unit success story, the TVS designers updated it with a look that would resonate with the younger buyers.

“We knew that the Jupiter had a reliable and sturdy reputation for reliability and comfort,” said Rajiv Kumar, a TVS dealer in Andheri whom I have known for years.

“What it wanted was the visual energy to tap into younger buyers without turning off its older buyers.”

That kinetic look starts up front, where a enhanced apron receives crisper lines and angular surfaces in place of the previous version’s more softly rounded approach.

The front LED headlamp cluster with 3-pod lights and eye-line shell inspired by the nocturnal eyes of a black panther further give the SP125 a very distinct statement during night.

New Jupiters were easily seen late at night on campus when I’d trudge through parking lots after evening classes, thanks in part to these lit features that served to distinguish them from the ocean of other two-wheelers.

The profile shows much more sculpted body panels and the sharp character lines should create a sense of dynamic while parked.

Offered in seven colors, such as the attractive new Copper Bronze and Celestial Blue, the color options definitely play it in tune with modern taste.

“The colors are a massive deal,” pointed out Priya Sharma, a 21-year-old marketing student I met outside her college canteen in Pune.

“My parents recommended I buy a Jupiter for the reason that I would never need a backup and I wasn’t convinced until I saw the redesign and color schemes. It was the Celestial Blue that hooked me.

TVS Jupiter 110 Features That Appeal to Younger Riders

Other than the cosmetic update, there are a couple of elements which TVS says has been targeted towards the younger set of buyers.

The all-new all-digital instrument console pairs to smartphones via Bluetooth and gets turn-by-turn navigation prompts, call alerts, message notifications and music controls.

On my test ride across Bangalore’s ever-tangled web of one way streets, this navigation feature wasn’t just a gimmick though, it proved to be genuinely useful.

“It was the navigation that sold my parents,” said Aditya Nair, 19, a computer science student who bought a Jupiter recently.

“My parents were nervous I would get lost in the city, and now they can track where I am, and I don’t have to stop every 2 minutes to check on my phone for directions.”

USB charging ports – which are now fitted as standard regardless of trim – cater for the drained battery paranoia of a smartphone generation.

The new underseat storage accommodates most half-face helmets and also features a split-level compartment for small items and charging cables.

What really stood out to me on my urban test ride was the new quiet start system, which lowers initial startup noise by 30% – a nice touch for when you need to leave early in the morning in a residential area or hostel.

TVS Jupiter 110 Sensible Engineering Appeal to Realist Tendencies

Although style and features might be what attract younger riders, TVS hasn’t thrown out the practical engineering that made the Jupiter a bestseller.

The smooth 110cc motor it packs may make just 8.15 PS of power and 8.7 Nm of torque, impressive figures it isn’t, but are perfect for moving in city.

On the test, along Mumbai’s perennially clogged Western Express Highway, the Jupiter’s maneuverability in stop-and-go traffic (more than outright performance figures would have you believe) left a warm glow about me.

Fuel efficiency is still a strong selling point with the new model, boasting 62 km to the litre under test parameters.

In my mixed urban ride I managed to achieve about 55-57 kmpl- a rather clever figure if you ask me considering the kind of throttle abuse I gave it squeezing through the gaps in traffic.

“Most of my friends don’t have money,” said Sneha Patel, a fashion design student in Bangalore. “We do a running cost of doing everything per month.

The Jupiter comes out as cheaper to going on autos or sharing rides to college daily, even if they have to pay EMIs.”

Even those design lines aren’t as much for bubbling-down-the-by-roads appeal as they are for everyday convenience-TVSA understanding that, when one uses a scooter every day, he or she doesn’t have the patience to open a seat to refuel a vehicle of this size and manage the wiring under the floor.

TVS Jupiter 110 Safety Features for Worrying Parents

Some of the most thoughtful additions to the new Jupiter are the safety features to make parents feel OK with buying it for a college-bound child.

The synchronized braking tech (SBT) is now standard on all models, the system distributes braking pressure to both wheels even when the brake lever for only the rear brake is used.

Come to a stop with so much force that the rear locked up, it was able to deliver precisely controlled deceleration without the drama of a skid or out-of-balance panic, When I simulated an emergency stop during my test ride, I was relieved to see Rear-End Actually-Lifted-For-Max-Decceleration/EMERGENCY/STOP A. Not so much for more novices who can afford the 201 lb-ft experience.

The front disc brake ( available on mid and top models ) gives even better stopping power while tubeless tires were made to never slow you down.

“My parents made it non-negociable,” said Riya Mathur, a journalism student I encountered at a Mumbai fuel station.

“The TVS salesman showed the brakes and drove us around and told us about vehicle stability and my father signed the check. The way that they were styled, the features, that’s what swayed me.

TVS Jupiter 110 Sensible Price Point

There’s one more thing to applaud TVS for; the critical balancing act between added features and style, and not allowing the overall price of the bike to move out of reach.

The new Jupiter series begins at ₹72,990 (ex-showroom) for the base variant and ₹85,990 for the fully-loaded variant.

It’s a price that makes it an achievable dream – higher end than many of the basic subscribe-a-scooter alternatives, but not into what could be 125cc scooter price territory, which could threaten student budgets.

Dealers I spoke to say the financing options have been custom-tuned with young riders in mind, with down payments as low as ₹7,999 and EMI periods that extend long enough to ensure monthly EMI amounts that are around what many students spend on ride share services.

TVS Jupiter 110 The Social Capital Factor

Beyond the reasons of practicality, the Jupiter’s popularity among young riders is a self-fulfilling prophecy. The model then gains social acceptance, and even cachet within peer groups, as more students opt in.

“There’s definitely a community aspect,” said Professor Meera Iyer, a sociologist at Bangalore University who researches consumer behavior among young people.

“Young people crave autonomy and individual expression, but within a context of group acceptance.

“This new Jupiter is one where you may have the ability to customize by colors and accessories, but you are part of a chorus that is an approved group decision.

This myopia was validated when I visited college campus and saw that Jupiter owners are constantly parking together and comparing minor personalization that can be done like seat cover, grips, stickers that makes the scooter their’s while not making drastic changes.

TVS Jupiter 110 The Changing Demographics

According to TVS’s internal data, the average age of the buyers of the Jupiter has reduced substantially with the new version. Though the company would not discuss specific numbers, dealers said the shift is huge.

“Earlier, I would perhaps have 20% of my Jupiter customer profile as college-going,” said Venkat Rao, a dealer for TVS in the student-heavy Koramangala area of Bangalore.

“With the new model, it’s gone up to almost 50 percent. And even more importantly, they are coming in on their own, not just dragged in by their parents.”

Desigend in a way that particularly female riders have a very positive reaction. On the campuses I visited the gender split among Jupiter owners seemed roughly 50:50 – a stark contrast to the once male-dominated ownership.

“The light clutch and better ergonomics are a world of difference for smaller riders,” said Ananya Sen, who runs a rider training course in Pune.

“The low seat height and the natural balance of the scooter makes it easy to approach even to the first timers on two wheels.

TVS Jupiter 110 Looking Ahead

With the 110cc scooter segment getting more competitive, it seems TVS’s decision to update the Jupiter to attract more youthful customers while not compromising on its key attributes is a wise one.

The company plans to offer a Jupiter owners’ community, complete with college-age-specific rides and events – an acknowledgment that the ownership experience matters as much as the product itself.

The re-invention for the next generation of India riders, the all new JUPITER becomes the epitome of breaking the clutter with un-matchable style, unimaginable performance and unbeatable convenience for urban commuters, occupying a new category into itself.

As college parking lots everywhere are increasingly showing us, that’s a winning combination.
